Langley’s Culinary Delights…where wine meets dine

Wine and Dine in LangleyLangley is not only home to an amazing lineup of wineries; this countryside also offers many artisanal goods well worth dishing up. I have had the opportunity to visit many local gems, and wanted to share my discoveries with my readers.

Starting at the Vista D’Oro Farms, I uncovered this great getaway, with it’s a wine and culinary agritourism, this is a definite destination point South Langley.

Overlooking Campbell Valley Park and Golden Ears Mountain Range, this Farmgate shop and tasting room features handcrafted wines and artisanal preserves, alongside orchard fruits grown on the farm.

Take a drive, and enjoy the farm fresh creations, baking, local artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and other delicious local products. Be sure to pack a picnic and perch your blanket on the deck or under the walnut trees.

Wine and Dine in Langely BC!I’ve also had the pleasure of visiting the Kensington Prairie Farm in recent years. This farm is home to 60 alpacas, and retails an array of specialized alpaca products including rovings, yarn, socks, toques, mitts, scarves, shawls, apparel and housewares.  The farm also features beef and alpaca meat products, artisanal honey, and eggs.

JD Farms Specialty Turkeys is one of my stop-offs during any family holiday event. They offers a farmgate store and samples of fresh or smoked sausages, and ready to eat meals.  Check out the Bistro for tasty turkey sandwiches and soups, as well as their new breakfast menu, a great spot to share some time with friends – as I’ve discovered.

Now I’m no green thumb, but I do enjoy seasonal berry picking at Krause Berry Farms. With a wide variety of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, & blackberries, this is my fresh fruit salad bar every summer!

Visit the BIG BLUE Market to see their famous “Wall of Pies”.  Or get your sugar-rich on before you head out to pick berries with their farm made fudge, donuts, popcorns, & delicious signature berry shortcakes.

I usually finish my day there with one of their milkshakes or berry ice creams, served on the porch next to their Future Farmers play area.

Last but certainly not least, one of my personal favourites is the Langley Community Farmers Market.  Every year they offer over 30 vendors who “make it, bake it, or grow it” themselves. They offer an amazing array of in-season produce, fruit, processed foods and quality arts and crafts. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and have your meal preparation ideas lines up for the week!
