Enjoy Father’s Day in Langley, Surrey and White Rock!!

Fathers Day often doesn’t get the same amount of attention that Mother’s Day does but I wanted to make sure that all the dads out there had some fun ideas for their fathers, themselves, or a family affair. After all, what good is a ‘special day’ without a little fun and food? Fortunately, there are lots of great things to do this month with or for dear old dad here in the Fraser Valley.

Below I’ve listed events and activities that I have had the pleasure to enjoy, and feel most fathers out there would enjoy also. Read on!

1. Shooting Ranges

What guy doesn’t like to get his “gun on”? This loud, testosterone induced activity is fun for every red blooded fellah. I’ve squeezed the trigger a few times at the Coquitlam shooting range, and it was definitely a happy moment.

Clearly this isn’t an event for all ages, but switch it up ever so slightly for the younger tykes. Create a child friendly Nerf gun target practice out in the woods for an equally fun filled afternoon.

2. Car-Free Festival

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge car-junky. But taking a day to be “wheels free”, is always a nice way to ride. The Car-Free Festivals in Vancouver offers up live entertainment, roving performers, street hockey, and more.

There are Car-Free Festivals happening in the West End, on Main Street, around Kitsilano, and on Commercial Drive.

For more info check out: Guide to Vancouver Car-Free Festivals 2013.

3. Meat + Drink + More Meat = Happy Dad

What man doesn’t like meat? I know I do, and I got word that Vancouver is holding their first-ever meat festival. Count me in!

The Festival of Meat: Brewery & The Beast at Concord Pacific Place is a one-stop-shop for all carnivorous chaps. It including whole pig and lamb roasts, house-made charcuterie, and smoked meats, accompanied by refreshments from The Phillips Brewing Company, Vancouver Urban Winery, and Left Field Cider.

4. Teach A Man To Fish…

North Vancouver’s Rice Lake is hosting a “Family Fish Day” on Father’s Day, that includes a free fishing license, a chance to release rainbow trout into Rice Lake, a wild salmon barbecue, prize draws and more. This is an event I haven’t enjoyed yet, but it’s definitely on my to-do list.

Leave your tackle at home …it’s all provided in this fun fish fest.

5. Golf. Need I Say More?

I don’t know a dad on earth who doesn’t like a good tee-off. Set your tee-time now at one of the many amazing golf courses we have around the Lower Mainland.

My personal favourites include: Morgan Creek Golf Course, Redwoods Golf Course , and although this one is a little ways out of town – it’s worth the amazing view! Furry Creek Golf Course

Or for a more kid-friendly course, check out the Par-3 Pitch & Putts at Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, and Rupert Park.

Whatever you do with dad this year, make it epic …I’m sure he deserves it!
