It might rain a lot in Vancouver, but Lotto 6/49 just brought us a new kind of downpour!

April 18, 2013 | By

BC doesn’t often cash in on the majority of winnings from the various Canadian lotteries. Our friends in Ontario usually take the bulk of these large cash-grabs.  In contrast to this trend, 3 of the 4 recent winning tickets for the largest Lotto 6/49 in jackpot history were sold in the Lower Mainland. Amazingly, as of today (April 18th, 2013) no one has come forward to claim the winnings.

I can understand that we are not accustomed to taking home the prize when it comes to the BIG wins. From the Canucks to BCLC, but in this instance – we have multiple people who have yet to claim these amazing prizes, and begin making their dreams (and hopefully others’ as well) come true.

Two tickets for the record-breaking $63,413,885.20 prize were sold in Surrey, one in Vancouver, and the fourth in Alberta. Each is worth $15,853,471.30.

According to Chris Fairclough of the BCLC, he expects at least one of the winners to step forward in the next two weeks. Fairclough pointed out that, “They have 52 weeks to come forward, but I’ve never seen someone wait that long.”

Unlike in some American states, the lucky winners won’t be able to claim the prize anonymously.

“Our job is to show that indeed people do win the lottery,” Fairclough said. BCLC will publicize the winners’ names and where they bought the tickets.

This record-setting jackpot would be enough to buy you real estate anywhere in the Lower Mainland …and then some. So, if you happen to win, give me a call and we’ll truly find your dream home!
