The industry forecast is finally warming up as we head into February, and with this being the month of love – we now have multiple reasons to feel warm and fuzzy.

According to the BC Real Estate Association, the market is said to pick up 5.6% in 2013. This slight jump in sales might seem small, but adds up to 71,000 properties expected to be sold across the province, with further growth to 6% in the following year.

As reported so eloquently with the Province of BC marketing ads …“British Columbia’s economy is stable and growing”. This means incomes are stable, part-time jobs are being converted into full-time jobs, and with the much debated oil line coming to BC; this is also generating growth and income.

The association says pricing is also a factor in the sales boost, but mostly because prices haven’t been dropping as much, and some buyers just may give up on the waiting game.

In Vancouver alone, the association anticipates a housing sales boost of close to 10% for the year. That follows a whopping 23% decline in 2012.

Having been in the real estate industry for years, I saw quite a few of my clients take their listings off the market last year. Sales were slow, and people just needed to regroup with all the stir being created about the massive price drops rumored to happen.

But with the outlook for 2013 being much more optimistic, my potential buyers couple nicely with those looking to once again put their homes on the market.

As always, I’m here to help and assist you in any way I can. February is gearing up nicely, and I would be more than happy to help you shift from your real estate woes of 2012, into some exclamatory “woohoo’s!” for 2013!
