Horse Racing in the Fraser ValleyHorse races are not a year-round sight, so when the horses come to town -those who enjoy this gambling sport- gallop to get a seat.

People have been betting on horse races since horses have been running. Betting on the outcome of formal horse races can be fun and profitable, if you know what you are doing and can beat the odds.

But whether you are going to get your game on, or just want an alternative outing with friends, I have enjoyed both with equal benefits.

From specialty seating with hat-wearing ladies and gent’folk, to those who love to snuggle up as closely as they can to a trackside seat, horse races are one of those “come one come all” fun affair.

Having been privy to a multiple races at various tracks, they all offer a good time and equal odds at winning. Whether you want to get a group together and enjoy the Budweiser Patio at the Hastings Raceway, or kick back and enjoy the Cloverdale Racetrack – this is a definite must for your summer lineup of to-do’s.

Grab A Group And Go! Betting Tip…

If this is your first time attending a horse race, a fun way to bet on horse races that gets everyone in your party involved is a group show parlay. It works like this: Have each person ante up $5, and pool the money. Each person in the group picks one race and one horse to bet to show. Place the first bet, and if you win, parlay the money on the next race and horse. Your winnings can add up very quickly. For example, if four people start with $20 and each person wins a $3 show price, you’ll have $101 after only four races.

So perhaps head down to the Fort Langley hat shop, find yourself a fancy chapeau …and proceed directly to the gates for race day fun. See you there!
